Suzi Abrams is a lifelong animal lover.
Many years ago, Suzi and her sons were about to leave for a vacation. She looked for a decent, affordable boarding kennel that could accommodate her four dogs. It was difficult, but she selected the kennel with the best reputation, left the dogs, and started the journey. About 10 minutes later, a call from a member of the kennel’s staff told Suzi one of her pups had a meltdown that included growling at employees and refusing to go with out with other dogs. An emergency trip to the veterinarian meant that her dog was drugged with a potent tranquilizer and given pills for anxiety and nausea to get the dog through the week.
A week later, the kennel’s bill was twice the cost of the airfare and the hotel combined, and all four dogs were a mess. They were stressed out, smelly, and hoarse from non-stop barking.
Suzi was the owner of Camp Bow Wow®, a premiere dog boarding franchise and doggie daycare facility. She has extensive first-hand experience running a terrific boarding facility. After her dogs terrible experience, Suzi decided none of her dogs would ever go to a kennel again. She preferred that her dogs stay in the comfort of their home environment, surrounded by familiar sights, sounds, and smells. She hired a professional pet sitter who devoted her life to caring for pets 24/7 , who was licensed and insured. It was all a matter of safety and peace of mind!
Suzi’s lifelong passion and love for animals inspired her to create Homeward Hounds Pet Sitting in 2008.

Suzi is a lifelong animal lover who is extremely passionate about her work and the wonderful business she has created! A native New Yorker, she obtained a B.A. in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and attended graduate school at New York University where she studied nutrition and early childhood education.
